BLUE HONEYSUCKLES

BLUE HONEYSUCKLES

(Lonicera caerulea edulis) This attractive, arching bush grows quickly to about 5' tall and produces delicious teardrop shaped, light blue fruit in May and June. The smalll spring flowers are white and funnel shaped. It is new to America and should become a valuable new fruit in cold winter climates. Both the fruit and bush look a little like a blueberry. PLEASE NOTE THAT ONLY BLUE VARIETIES OF HONEYSUCKLES ARE EDIBLE. Minimal pruning is required; Just remove overlapping and weak branches from the center of the bush. Space 6' apart, 3-4' for a hedge. Select two varieties for pollination. USDA Zones 2-7.
