We found these large roundish brown figs with succulent pink flesh, reliably ripening on the cold rainy coast of Brittany in France, where all other cultivars failed. They have proven to ripen each August in the Pacific Northwest. They are excellent eaten fresh, dried or for conserves. Also called Angelique, this fig is originally from the Anjou region. It will also do very well in warmer summer areas. Like many figs, in cold damp climates it is susceptible to botrytis. A dwarf tree or bush that thrives in a pot and produces large crops of sweet flavorful black fruit with red flesh. It has two crops a year and sets more fruit for its size than other varieties. The fruit is green and flesh light colored with an excellent flavor. It thrived in the cold Tashkent winter but hasn't been tried in cold regions in the United States.
