The purple heart shaped leaves age to a bronzy green as summer progresses, and become purplish again in the fall before dropping. The papery, flat brown seed pods persist for winter interest. Altogether a very nice tree for the front yard, it will grow to about 25'. Best bloom in areas with cold winters. Give it some afternoon shade in hot summer climates.
