For a thousand years, the Japanese have had a reverence for the beauty and fragrance of flowering cherries. For the first time, we offer these amazing trees on the dwarf "Gisela 5" rootstock. Trees will grow only to about 10' tall. Each needs sun and well-drained soil and little pruning after permanent branches are chosen. Flowering cherries are site specific so check first to see if they thrive in your area. USDA Zones 6-9.
(Prunus serrulata 'Kwanzan') This tree always gets attention when it is in bloom here at Raintree! Double pink flowers cover it in mid spring. The form is like an inverted cone, growing to about 10' on this rootstock. Foliage emerges reddish in spring, turns green for the summer, and becomes yellow with orange and red in the fall. For full or partial sun, well drained soils.
