(Xanthoceras sorbifolia) A hardy, self fertile, nut producing tree native to Northern China. It grows to 20 feet tall. The edible one half inch nuts are usually roasted and taste like a macadamia nut. It grows in sun or shade but produces best in sun. It is a handsome ornamental with shiny dark green pinnate leaves that run bright yellow in the fall. White blossoms on ten inch long racemes are produced in late May.
