ZONE A: (The Mountains) This is the most limiting zone,
however we offer many winter hardy fruit varieties which will thrive.

ZONE G: (Coast Range, Lake County, and Sierra Nevada foothills) Grow pears and walnuts, also apples, cherries, peaches, nectarines, and fuzzy and hardy kiwis. Winter minimums can get quite low - even below 10° F. requiring special protection for citrus, pomegranates, figs, and other subtropicals.

ZONE K: (Cold-air basins (Low Spots) of California's central valley & some coastal valleys) Subtropicals will thrive. All kiwi varieties offered by Raintree will do well. Hot summers ripen heat loving temperate fruits
including pluots, peaches, nectarines, and late ripening apples.

ZONE J: (Thermal Belts of California's Central Valley) Pomegranates should ripen nicely. Almonds, fuzzy kiwis and cider
gum eucalyptus (E. archerii). For fragrance, try, Tea, Sweet Olive and
our exotic jasmines.

ZONE L: (Northern California's Inland Areas with Some Ocean Influence). Japanese plums, pluots and quinces, pineapple guavas, pomegranates, persimmons, and figs.

ZONE H: (North Coast, Slightly Inland).. Early blooming trees,
like almonds and apricots, thrive. Summers are sufficiently cool to favor
berry plantings. The heat loving Asian Pears ripen to
perfection. The classic California apple country, many apples thrive including hard to ripen varieties, such as Melrose and Northern Spy.

ZONE I: (Favored protected coastal microclimates). Zone I has it all-relative high minimum temperatures (mid-20s) and summers which are warm, but not
too hot. Try Sweet Olive, Musk Strawberries, Passifloras. Heat-loving deciduous trees such as Nectarines, Peaches, Persimmons, Figs and Pluots also thrive. Early blooming trees, like Almonds and Apricots
thrive.  (When growing deciduous trees in the most temperate parts of this zone
such as the immediate San Francisco Bay, make certain to plant low chill varieties. See low chill chart in the catalog or on the web.

ZONE M: (Extreme Marine Influence).. Raintree specializes in varieties for cool maritime climates so you are in luck. Most of our Northwest tested varieties in the Raintree catalog will do well for you. Most of the early ripening, disease resistant apples, pears and plums we offer will thrive. Try leaf curl resistant peaches and Puget Gold apricot. Berries thrive, including Day Neutral, Alpine and Musk Strawberries, Raspberries, Blackberries, Blueberries, Currants, Gooseberries, Boysenberries, Marionberries, Tayberries, and Loganberries. Hardy varieties of Passifloras often naturalize. Colorful fuchsias attract hummingbirds, while roses bloom profusely-try our Rosa rugosa (large hip) varieties. Zone M is the home territory of Bay laurel, and hardy eucalyptus varieties grow tall. Choose "low heat" and (in the most moderate spots) "low chill" apples, pears, and curl resistant peaches.
