Lonicera caerulea edulis

Note that Raintree offers many varieties that bloom later and are suited for maritime climates as well as very cold continental climates.

This attractive, arching bush grows quickly to about 5' tall and produces delicious teardrop shaped, light blue fruit in May and June. The small spring flowers are white and funnel shaped. It is new to America and should become a valuable new fruit in cold winter climates. Both the fruit and bush look a little like a blueberry.  Minimal pruning is required; Just remove overlapping and weak branches from the center of the bush. Space 6' apart, 3-4' for a hedge. Select two varieties for pollination.
