Yellow Huffcap is a traditional old English "Perry" pear used to make an excellent pear cider. It ripens in mid season and is high in acids and low in tannins. The fruit is small and yellow/green. The fruit ripens in mid to late September in Western Oregon. The fruit should be shaken from the tree just before it is ripe or it could rot on the tree. Trees are vigorous with a spreading habit and very productive but biennial and slow to come into bearing. Fruit is high in Vitamin C.
